Collin County is famous for the cities of Plano, Allen, Frisco and McKinney.  The last city to be established was a former town better known today as Prosper.

Prosper came into being as a stop on the St. Louis, MO to San Francisco, CA and the Texas Railroad in 1902. A post office was granted the following year due to this reason alone. The name Prosper can be creditited to Railroad officials. With every new railroad town being created due to railroad tracks (at least in Northern Texas) another town or two disappeared in the night.  In Prosper’s case the disappearing community was Rock Hill very close by.

Prosper incorporated in 1914 when their were 500 reported residents. Prosper is included in the famed rich Blackland Prairie, and thrived as a cotton producing and shipping point.

Although the population dropped 20% to 400 in the early 1920s, the town was complete with paved roads, electricity and a water works. The Great Depression took its toll on Prosper and by 1940 the population reached a low of 271. It wasn’t until 1970 when the town broke the 1914 population figure. The population explosion of Dallas and Collin Counties in the 1990s included Prosper and the 2000 Census reported 2,071 residents.

Growing up here in Plano, we always though Frisco was almost to Oklahoma, boy have things changed today.

Prosper homes range from smaller 1,500 square foot homes up to Multi-million dollar properties.  In the late 1990's, the reason moving to prosper was to have a very large house for the money.    Plano, Allen, Frisco and McKinney were all getting to the build out numbers that the next town in that exact sequence was Prosper.  Land values skyrocketed and not only could you get a larger home for your money, but know the Prosper Home was also known as having a very nice sized back yard.

New home builders in Plano, Allen and Frisco were building quality homes for families, but lacking the back yard to maximize profits in their margins.  The Prosper homes for sale that were being erected in lightning speed mostly boasted 1/2 acre lots to 1+ Acre lots.  This alone made many families sell their other Collin County homes and move quickly to have their own Prosper TX Homes.

Today, the market is back.  The Prosper Real Estate Market is alive and well.  Come visit Prosper and see for yourself how Prosper homes have almost by themselves made Prosper a great place to raise a family!
